Flower Sweet Alyssum 1000 Open Pollinated Seeds
Alyssum is an annual known for its sweet smelling white and violet colored flowers. Alyssum grows best in the cooler part of the summer. If the weather is too hot or dry, the alyssum will stop flowering.
Before growing alyssum, make sure the soil is well-drained and can hold moisture well-especially during the summer months. Also be sure to choose a location that gets direct sunlight. Alyssum needs at least 4-6 hours of sunlight every day to thrive.
It’s best to start alyssum indoors 8-10 weeks before transplanting the seedlings to your garden. If you sow the seeds directly into the ground, the flowers will bloom later. Once the last frost has past, plant your seedlings in your flower bed 6 inches apart. Keep the soil moist in order for the flowers to germinate within a week.
Water your alyssum regularly, especially during the hot and dry summer months. In mid-summer, shear each alyssum plant 1/3 of their height. Then fertilize in order for a late summer bloom. If you grow your alyssum in containers or in small space with little soil, fertilize the flowers every month to help the alyssum thrive!
