This is a hearty cool weather plant that does not do well in extreme heat at all. Most of the time in San Antonio, this veggie does not grow well in the summer.
Above, we show the Snowball which is a white headed cauliflower that is the easiest and most popular to grow. It is great for spring growing but will handle a light frost. It matures in 80 days.
Below is a picture of our growing cauliflower plants. I transplanted these two weeks ago into my new three tier raised garden bed.
This was my first batch of cauliflower and the plants seem to be doing a good job in the photo above.
Below is a picture of some cauliflower and broccoli I harvested for the fall season a few years later. We cooked the two vegetables together and they were both delicious.
Tip: When you cook either of these vegetables, be careful not to overcook and make them mushy. Steam them or simmer for just a few minutes so they are sturdy, yet tender. They are delicious with a hint of butter, salt, and pepper!
