Everyone loves to see growing flowers but how many of us can grow them from seed? David's Garden Seeds And Products does not sell bulbs, slips, or live plants, only seeds so you will find garden flowers grown from seed on this page.
Flowers make your yard look attractive in the front, giving it "curb appeal." This is important, especially if you are trying to sell your house. Flowers in the front yard can add monetary value as potential buyers perceive a yard with beautiful things growing neatly in it to be worth more than a yard with a plain green lawn. My favorite houses around our neighborhood have beautiful flowers growing in the front yard in flower beds.
I like to grow them in the backyard as well so I can enjoy them while I am outside weeding the vegetables and playing with our dogs. David enjoys sitting out on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee and likes to see the colorful flowers in planters on the deck.
Beautiful flowers take a lot of water and if you are in the middle of a drought like the kind we have had for the past two years and are still in, you may not have much luck with them. Hopefully, San Antonio will start getting large amounts of rain so we do not have to go into the spring planting season already in Stage Two with many drought restrictions, including being able to water once every two weeks. Yes, we will start 2013 in a Stage Two Drought. This will be our third year of drought in a row, unless we get a ton of rain!
Once you have planted your flowers, don't forget to water them. They will get dry quickly and will wither in the heat of the summer sun unless you are watering them. Don't forget.
But keep in mind, that most wildflowers do not require a lot of water and should be planted in the fall for spring growth, but some growers have had success planting wildflowers in the spring.
Our most popular flower is the Hummingbird/Butterfly mix.

"Will definitely order from David's Garden Seeds in the future! The
seed-starting tray that I ordered was sent and received in a timely
manner, and, as expected, is very well-made. In addition, the seller
responds to messages very promptly and politely, which is a rarity in a
day and age when a person generally gets stuck on the phone with
elevator music for an eternity!"
