Mustard greens are a spicy, easy growing leafy green.  If you’re new to gardening, consider growing mustard greens because they need little care.

You can plant mustard greens from seed, or you can grow from seedlings.  If you’re growing mustard greens from seed, you can plant them directly outside approximately three weeks after your last frost date.  Plant your mustard greens ½ inch deep and 3 inches apart.  If you’re planting seedlings, plant them 3-5 inches apart 3 weeks before your last frost date.

Mustard greens need at least 2 inches of water a week, and sometimes Mustard greens need a balanced fertilizer.  Be sure to keep your garden bed free of weeds, especially when they are seedlings.  The less competition Mustard greens have from weeds, the better they will grow.

Mustard greens should be harvested while they’re still young and tender.  As mustard greens get older, their leaves become tough and bitter.  While growing mustard greens, be sure to discard any yellow leaves that appear on the plants.

There are two ways to harvest mustard greens.  You can either pick individual leaves to allow the plant to grow more in place of, or you can cut the entire the plant down to harvest all the leaves at once.

Use your mustard greens to add a punch of flavor to your salads or as lettuce substitutes in dishes!

Enjoy and happy gardening!

In addition, the seller responds to messages very promptly and politely, which is a rarity in a day and age when a person generally gets stuck on the phone with elevator music for an eternity!"
