This page gives instructions on growing nasturtium.
Nasturtium not only adds beauty to your garden, but the petals and leaves of the flower are edible as well! Nasturtium is also a great flower to grow with children because it’s not only easy to grow, but it also grows at a rapid pace.
Choose a location in your flower bed that receives full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Nasturtium can grow in partial shade, but the blooms will be less successful. Nasturtium grows best in poor soil, and does not need fertilizer to thrive. Infact, fertile soil will produce fewer blooms.
Sow your seeds directly into the ground a ½ inch deep and 10-12 inches apart. Nasturtium plants should appear in 7-10 days!
Water on a regular basis during the growing season, and cut off dead flowers. Doing this will prolong the bloom of other Nasturtium flowers sharing the same plant. If you’re growing nasturtium in containers, the plants will need to be trimmed occasionally.
To replant nasturtium for the next season, let them dry out on the vine and fall off naturally. Simply collect the seeds from the ground, brush off the soil, dry them, and store them in a paper envelop, and place the envelope in a cool dark place. You’ll have seeds for next season!
Enjoy the blooms of Nasturtium and happy gardening!
