Nigella, also more romantically known as Love-In-a-Mist or Devil-in-a-Bush, is a feathery annual flower that will self-sow depending on conditions. Nigella derives its names based on its appearance. The pink, blue, and white nigella flower is surrounded by bracts, which makes appear to be surrounded by mist.
Nigella thrives best in cooler areas in well-drained soil with a neutral pH. Nigella, however still needs full sunlight to grow! Nigella is easy to grow because you just cast the seeds in a chosen location in your garden, and watch them grow. The seeds don’t need to be covered!
Nigella can grow up to a height of 15-24 inches and up to a width of 12 inches. Nigella can add to your garden’s landscape if grown as a part of the border. Nigella can also be grown in a container to add an interesting, romantic sight to your container gardening!
Caring for Nigella after it has been planted is very simple: water the flowers during hot, dry temperatures and feed regularly with fertilizer. Also, don’t forget to deadhead spent blooms to encourage the growth of more flowers! You can also collect the seeds from dried seedpods to add to dry floral arrangements!
Enjoy the bloom of Nigella and Happy Gardening!
