Planting Beet Seeds

Happy Fall, Y'all!

Happy Fall from down on the farm! We have made the move and are now living in our beautiful new home. The living room is filled with boxes that Juanita has been tackling each day for almost a week now. She needs to hurry because our new living room furniture will be here this coming Monday. I have been trying to get the garden areas set up. I finally have some bush beans planted.

In the photo above, you can see our home from the front gate. You can also see some of the hoop houses aka makeshift greenhouses covered in shade cloth. This is where I have my bush beans planted. I have 100 raised garden beds in the five greenhouses.

Plant Beets In Your Fall Garden

It is time to plant beets in your fall garden if you live in a warm climate. Above is our Rainbow Beets. You get four varieties in one pack. Kids will love seeing the different colors. We have a good selection of sweet, delicious, healthy beet seeds. They grow great in the fall and you will enjoy eating them. If you are in a cooler climate, you can overwinter them. The cold will make them sweeter.

Above is our eight variety Beet Seed Set. As you can see, the beets are popping with color. Since beets are a root vegetable, the cooler weather enhances the sugar in the beet. Packet contains: Chioggia, Babybeat, Ruby Queen, Boldor, Touchstone, Avalanche, Detroit Dark Red and Golden Detroit Beet Seeds.
All of our varieties of beets do well in the fall. They take anywhere from 54 days up to 65 days until they are ready for harvest. Here in Texas, you can plant them at the end of August through October and they will be ready to harvest in the middle of September to the end of November.

The brilliant colors you can get will enhance any dinner plate during fall and winter months.

The Chioggia Guardsmark Beet, shown above, looks like a peppermint when sliced open.
