Heat Tolerant Lettuce

This month, we are highlighting Cherokee Lettuce Seeds, which are the tall, reddish-green lettuce clusters growing out of the pvc pipe in the photo above. This was a hydroponic experiment that David did in the greenhouse.

Cherokee lettuce is heat tolerant, so it does very well in hot climates, like Texas. It did very well in the greenhouse as well as in the garden. The pretty color puts some fun into your summer salads.

When you plant lettuce of any variety, plant a short row each week so that you have fresh lettuce coming in all summer long, instead of planting it all at once. Do this with all of your greens for fresh salad fixings.
