Happy Leap Day!

Grow Spinach This Spring

Happy Leap Day! Yes, it is February 29, a day that comes around just once every four years.

Today, let's talk about planting spinach leaves this spring. The good thing about spinach is that you can harvest delicious, tender baby leaves for salads in just 25 days. Most spinach leaves are full size by day 50! I love it raw in salad, don't you?

Spinach is so good for you and it tastes great uncooked in a salad. Don't think of that nasty can of dark green mush that tasted horrible on your plate when you were a kid. Think of fresh, tasty goodness coming from your garden.

Planting Tip: Plant a small row each week so that all of your spinach plants don't ripen at once. This way, you will have fresh spinach leaves to enjoy every week, all spring and summer. (Do the same thing with lettuce seeds.)
