Plant Beets In Your Fall GardenHappy 11th day of June! Today we will talk about planting beets in your fall garden. As with any root vegetable, if you plant your seeds in the fall and overwinter them, harvesting in early February or March, the veggies will be sweeter. The cold ground adds a touch of sweetness. Or you can plant in August and harvest in October and November.
Beets are high in fiber and taste delicious. Beets come in a rainbow of incredible colors that you will enjoy putting on your plate.
You can cook them in water, grill them, or roast them in the oven, my favorite way. Spray a cookie sheet with Pam and place a single layer of washed, peeled, cut up beet slices on it. Drizzle with olive oil and season with your favorite seasoning. I like Lawry's seasoning for meat. Bake at 400° for 30 to 45 minutes. They taste great with butter or olive oil.
You can see all of our
beet seeds here. We recommend planting your seeds no deeper than 1/4 inch into the ground. Give them full sun in loose soil and water whenever the ground feels dry. Most of our beet seeds are ready to harvest in between 45 and 60 days.

Our Farm StoreCome on out and visit our farm. We give tours. Our gazebo with a waterfall and a small pond is finished and we have fish in the pond.
Our physical store is located at 5029 FM 2504, Poteet, TX.
While you are here, you can get plants, farm fresh chicken eggs in a beautiful array of colors, a barbecue grill to kick off spring, and strawberry jam. We are adding new things all of the time.
You will enjoy the drive out. Once you get off of I35 or 1604, enjoy the country roads. There are horses and cows to see almost everywhere! Our store is open from Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm and on Saturdays from 10am until 2pm. We are closed on Sundays.
