Time To Think About Your Fall Garden

Happy First Day of June! The spring went too quickly and in 19 more days, it will be the first day of summer and Father's Day. The year is almost half over.

By now, you should have some wonderful things growing in your spring garden. We are harvesting vegetables and strawberries every day. This year has been different in that cooler temperatures have prevailed all over the USA which means that everyone has been having to wait a little longer to plant. In fact, there are still a few areas that are still too cool to plant some of the normal spring seeds.

So it is now time to turn our attention to the fall garden, if you live in a warm climate that allows a fall garden.

If you look at the photo collage above, you can get a pretty good idea of what to grow in August and September. Start out with beets, carrots, greens, kale, and onions. If you need additional ideas for your fall garden, you can find some good fall garden ideas here.

To save you the trouble, we have put together a beautiful fall garden seed set with 34 varieties that do very well in Texas and the southwestern United States.

Next week, we will talk specifically about planting beets. If you travel near San Antonio this summer, please stop by and say hi. We would love to meet you. You can find our seeds for Texas here.

Our Farm Store

Come on out and visit our farm. We give tours. Our gazebo with a waterfall and a small pond is finished and we have fish in the pond.

Our physical store is located at 5029 FM 2504, Poteet, TX.

While you are here, you can get plants, farm fresh chicken eggs in a beautiful array of colors, a barbecue grill to kick off spring, and strawberry jam. We are adding new things all of the time.

You will enjoy the drive out. Once you get off of I35 or 1604, enjoy the country roads. There are horses and cows to see almost everywhere! Our store is open from Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm and on Saturdays from 10am until 2pm. We are closed on Sundays.
