Grow Summer Squash This Spring

One of the best vegetables you can choose to plant in the spring is summer squash. There are also green and grey as well as two toned fruits. Most of it looks similar to the yellow squashes above. We also carry scallop squash seeds which are adorable! See the photo below.

They come in a variety of colors. Children love to help grow these little squashes.

Summer squash comes in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. They grow fairly easily. The problem comes with squash bores. There is a solution for these found in Companion Planting. Plant a border of White Icicle Radishes (in the photo below) around your summer squash. The squash bores are attracted to the leaves of the white icicle radish and leave the squash alone. It is the only radish that works. We carry the seeds and the radishes taste hot but are very good. We just harvested some here on the farm.
