David's Garden Seeds And Products Newsletter
September 30, 2020
Happy Fall, Y'all!Hello Fellow Gardeners!
It has been a very busy summer, moving the entire David's Garden Seeds. The team seems to enjoy being out here. A few of our people from San Antonio quit so we replaced them with six awesome local people.
The new store building is air conditioned so you can shop comfortably. We have drinks and candy bars available for purchase since it is a long drive out this way. We also have pickled vegetables including dill and sweet pickles available for purchase made by David from our garden for as long as they last. Those will continue to be made throughout the year.
Stop by and say hi to us at 5029 FM 2504, Poteet, TX. We are actually located in Rossville, right on FM 2504. There are signs on the fence as you drive by that say "David's Garden Seeds". Turn in at the gate and park in our parking lot.
We have lots of seeds (over 1600 varieties) and live plants from our greenhouse for you to purchase, and more. Our plants will change depending on the season and on what we have growing in our greenhouse.
The best part is that our beautiful new restrooms are complete and open to the public so no more outhouses!
We think you will enjoy the drive out to the farm. Once you get off of I35 or 1604, you will calm down and enjoy the country roads. There are horses and cows to see almost everywhere! We just love it out here and we hope you will visit often as we continually add on to the farm.
Everything is complete in our four new buildings except for our commercial kitchen in building #4. That is in process but because of the coronavirus, it is difficult to get the commercial pieces we need. They are all on back order.
Our store will be open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. When you turn in to our parking lot, you will see four buildings. Our store is pictured above so you will recognize it.Juanita (Mrs. David's Garden Seeds®) now has an assistant, Karen, who helps in the store and also helps with our social media. Karen is pictured above and has been a tremendous asset to our team.
Farm LifeHere on the farm, we have harvested a lot of summer vegetables and now have our fall crops planted. We have been battling cutter ants as they destroy our trees and plants. They just keep going. If you have any tips on getting rid of cutter ants, we would love to hear them!
Right now, we have broccoli, cauliflower, pumpkins, some tomatoes, squash, zucchini, corn, and beans growing out in our garden. We have loved the cooler weather this week has brought us.Our chickens are now 22 weeks old and some of them have started laying eggs. Soon, we will have farm fresh eggs for sale in our store. Pictured above, one of our Rhode Island Red Chickens got excited when we took some garden fresh watermelon out to the coop. She jumped right into the bowl!
David got rabbits but has not mated any yet. He will be selling the meat once he gets going on that project.
David has added many new seed varieties over the summer and we are busy adding them to our website and to our store now.
