David's Garden Seeds And Products Newsletter, Issue #001 -- teaser here
May 26, 2013
|Welcome To The First Edition of David's Garden Seeds And Products News!
Tomorrow is Memorial Day. We honor all of the brave men and women who have given their lives in the service of the United States of America!
If you are a veteran, like David, we thank you for your dedicated service to our country!
The May 2013 edition is our first newsletter and we are excited that so many have signed up to keep track of what is going on here at David's Garden Seeds And Products. Last fall, we designed a new logo for our seed packets. Instead of green grass, you now see a bowl of multi-colored peppers. David chose this because he loves peppers and bright colors. Right after we designed our new logo, we traveled to Orlando, FL, to go to Dave Ramsey's Entreleadership conference to learn more about taking our small business to the next level. There, David and I (Juanita) met with some wonderful members of Dave's team, as well as with Dave Ramsey himself, and discussed our business and our website. We were told that our website lacked luster...and it did. It was brown and dull. That same night, I revamped it and incorporated our new company logo into the top of the site and we think it looks great now!
While we were in Orlando, we learned a lot from Dave and his team. Thank you, Dave, and thank you to your wonderful team for helping us to grow!
Above, David consults with Dave Ramsey about our business, after class.
Dave taught us a lot about building our team. We went from just David to a strong team of seven to help make your customer service experience a great one at David's Garden Seeds And Products.
We are happy to announce that we now offer larger packages of seeds and we have gift packages complete with beautiful glamor bubble wrap in assorted colors for your gift-giving convenience!
We have been adding new products and filling hundreds of orders each day from early December until now. We thought the spring planting season would taper off, but it is still going strong so we want to thank you, our loyal customers and readers for your business.
A new section of products that were recently added to our inventory are our succulents. Yes, we now have some cactus and aloe seeds in addition to a lot of new flower and vegetable seeds.
In addition to the new products, I have been adding new sections to our website. These include preserving what you grow through Blanching and Freezing Vegetables, as well as Canning what you grow. By popular demand, I have also started a section on Recipes for the vegetables that you grow! As summer begins, we are looking forward to planning our fall crops. Here in hot Texas, we plant green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, pumpkins, carrots, onions, certain varieties of lettuce, certain varieties of spinach, turnips, parsnips, and beets to harvest in late fall before the danger of frost hits. This past Thanksgiving Day, David and I picked the green beans from our greenhouse to make Green Bean Casserole and with fresh green beans, it was especially tasty!
If you are curious about building a simple PVC greenhouse like we have in our backyard, here is the section on building greenhouses on our website. For now, it is time to continue my pages on freezing, canning, and recipes. We will send out another newsletter filled with what is going on at David's Garden Seeds at the end of June! Until then, keep your garden well-watered and enjoy your summer produce!
