Medicinal: Roots are a respiratory expectorant and diaphoretic. Perennial in Zones 4 to 9.
NOTE: Wild populations of Pleurisy Root have been deemed to be in danger of extinction.

An introduced species of the subtropics that has naturalized throughout North America, Milkweed Tropical is considered an annual, easily started from seed. The alluring, bright orange and yellow flowers are concentrated in compact clusters at the top of branching stems.
It is an important nectar source for monarchs and a wide variety of other butterfly species, pollinators and hummingbirds.
This flower prefers full sun to partial shade and is not extremely temperamental about soil types. It blooms all season, transplants well, and is deer and rabbit resistant!
