We are going to dedicate this website to our doomsday information.
This page talks about how to buy Doomsday Arugula Seeds from David's Garden Seeds®.
This is our Doomsday Arugula page. It gives instructions on how many arugula plants are needed to feed one person for a year.
Arugula has 5 calories per cup, so it is not a good vegetable to
grow to try to get 1200 calories out of which is out doomsday goal.
It is a good ingredient to add to a salad of greens.
Arugula is easy to grow and here in San Antonio, we can grow it year round. As long as the ground does not freeze, it will grow.
It can be dried
into chips which we have bought and tried. I did not care for it. If
not drying it, eat it within hours of picking it. It will not last long
It is also a good green to use in your compost pile or to till under in the garden.
You can also feed it to the chickens, rabbits and whatever animals you may have.
I would grow about 20 plants just to have them. You grow these in a 4 x 8 raised bed. One plant can produce thousands of seeds. Just let it keep growing and when it matures, stalks will grow out of the middle of it, producing flowers, pods and then seeds.
Arugula 5000 Non-GMO, Heirloom Seeds
This is the standard arugula variety. Long, dark, lobed leaves are suitable for salad mix or bunching. At maturity, the long, dark green, lobed leaves
form a loose, open bunch. Easy to grow, baby or full size. Sprinkle
flowers over salads or add to vegetable stir fries. Harvest the edible flowers as they
will reseed vigorously. Harvest in about 21-40 days. Easy to grow.
Arugula Astro 5000 Non-GMO, Open Pollinated Seeds
Early, heat tolerant. A selection of regular arugula with less deeply lobed leaves and a slightly milder flavor. Harvest the edible flowers as they appear. Sprinkle them over salads or add to vegetable stir-fries. Flavor is spicy and nutty. Popular choice for brightening up salad mix. Harvest in about 38 days.

All of the variety information on the David's Garden Seeds® website, including the days to
maturity, color and size are based on data from tests done at specific
locations. Many factors, including geographic location, daytime and
nighttime temperatures, the availability of plant nutrients, many unknown climate factors and insects/pest interact to determine a variety's
performance. For information on which varieties will perform best in
your area, we recommend that you contact your local county extension agent or a Master Gardener.
David’s Garden Seeds®, gardening is our passion. We provide top quality,
non-GMO seeds so families can learn about gardening and love it. In turn, we
hope they will pass this passion down to their children and
grandchildren, teaching them to grow delicious food, fresh herbs and
