American Native Yellow Prairie Flax FlowerAmerican Native Yellow Prairie Flax Flower

This lovely, fragile looking flower, also known as Stiff Stem Flax, is a native to the prairies and pastures throughout the state of Texas. They seldom grow over 8 inches tall unless they are wildly happy about the place they're given. The plant has very small, pointed leaves. The flowers grow in clusters on the terminal ends of the stems; one flower in each cluster opening at a time.

Blooms in the months of February thru September.

Californian Native Blue Flax

One of our favorites, Blue Flax is a classic American native wildflower. This perennial version is also often known as Linum Lewis II in honor of explorer Meriwether Lewis who remarked upon this species in his journals.

Blue Flax prefers full sun, but can tolerate some partial shade as well. Blue Flax is an early bloomer in most climates and a colorful harbinger of spring.
