Alexandria Strawberries are alpine strawberries from seed. Day-neutral. These decorative little plants produce delicious, aromatic red strawberries, about twice the size of wild berries but much smaller than the standard type.  Perennials, Alpine strawberries stay compact and produce few runners, making them suitable for rock gardens, path edgings, pots, and window boxes. They begin producing the second spring, sometimes the first fall. Grows best in zones 5 to 8. Red ripe strawberries in 2nd year, some the first year.

Fruit Strawberry MignonetteFruit Strawberry Mignonette

Fruit Strawberry Mignonette 100 Non-GMO, Hybrid Seeds

$5.45  Out

Mignonette' is the tastiest red alpine variety in our opinion. It is not as productive as some other reds like 'Reine des Vallees' but the 1" long conical shaped fruit has an aroma and taste unlike anything you've ever experienced. We have found that this selection may not be as hardy as some of the other selections so mulch well for winter in colder zones.

Special note: Hard to get started. Not for novice gardeners. Will require indoor lighting unless in a greenhouse with 8 to 12 hours of lighting.

DO NOT DIRECT SOW. Will need about four weeks of constant 75 degrees to germinate. Strawberries are not easy to germinate.
