This page gives instructions on how to buy strawberry fruit seeds from David's Garden Seeds.  Strawberry seeds are very tiny.  We recommend that they be started inside.  Never direct sow.  They are difficult to get started, but we have successfully grown them from seed every year.


Alexandria Strawberries

Fruit Strawberry Alexandria 200 Non-GMO, Heirloom Seeds

Alexandria Strawberries are alpine strawberries from seed. Day-neutral. These decorative little plants produce delicious, aromatic red strawberries, about twice the size of wild berries but much smaller than the standard type.  Perennials, Alpine strawberries stay compact and produce few runners, making them suitable for rock gardens, path edgings, pots, and window boxes. They begin producing the second spring, sometimes the first fall. Grows best in zones 5 to 8. Red ripe strawberries in 2nd year, some the first year.

Strawberry Elan 15 Non-GMO, Hybrid Seeds

Day-neutral strawberry for field or container. Elan has many runners and white flowers that produce medium-sized, conical berries with intense, sweet strawberry flavor. Suitable for field, greenhouse, and container production.

Produces fruit the first year and bears from June through frost. Grows best in Zones 5–8.

Edible Flowers: Flowers add a mild, strawberry-like flavor if sprinkled on salads or when used as a garnish for drinks and desserts.

Special note: Hard to get started. Not for novice gardeners. Will require indoor lighting unless in a greenhouse with 8 to 12 hours of lighting. DO NOT DIRECT SOW. Will need about four weeks of constant 75 degrees to germinate. Strawberries are not easy to germinate.

The pink flowers result in small to medium, conical berries with excellent flavor. Edible ornamental. Grows best in Zones 5-8. Beauty with function. Day-neutral. Tarpan starts producing abundant, 1-1 1/2", deep rose flowers in about 85 days. Plant in a hanging basket, container, or in the ground. The bright red, small to medium-sized berries are plentiful, tasty, and will produce from midsummer to frost. Produces runners.
