Great Sunflower Seeds

by Jorge
(Illinois)

100 percent germination, flowers on time. I have a couple that are 14 feet and one that is pushing 16 feet tall. Thick stalks and have survived several storms that have produced 60 to 65 mph gusts. I did stake them with 6 ft stakes so Im sure that helped a bit but the plants did most of the work them selves. I start them in rapid rooters and planted them directly in tilled, aerated and amended soil (2.5 ft tilled) Looks great and the kids love them, I cant ask for more. I will plant the rest of these seeds next year for sure! Their blooms will bring in all sorts of birds and makes for good watching when the kids are around, rabbits and beetles love them too so take necessary precautions and they will make it fine!!!

All of the variety information on the David's Garden Seeds® website, including the days to maturity, color and size are based on data from tests done at specific locations. Many factors, including geographic location, daytime and nighttime temperatures, the availability of plant nutrients, many unknown climate factors and insects/pest interact to determine a variety's performance. For information on which varieties will perform best in your area, we recommend that you contact your local county extension agent or a Master Gardener.
