Sunflower Seeds With A Great Germination Rate!
I just got these in the mail on Saturday - my grand daughter and I planted them in a planter box on my patio. We didn't hope for much, since it is late to plant and extremely hot and dry. We decided to go for it and hope for sunflowers in the fall. This morning - just 5 days in I saw that there are multiple little sprouts coming up in the planter box. We planted about half the bag, just because I thought if we got one or two I would be happy. Well I think they all sprouted. Probably will loose a couple due to over crowding, but so far so good. I didn't do anything to the seeds. I just cultivated the dirt in the planter box to where it was really fine - watered down the soil fairly well and laid the seeds down. I covered the seeds with about two inches of good planter mix ( tried to hide the seeds from the birds, but didn't want to suffocate them either). I've been watering in healthy amounts twice a day. Very little effort on my part so far, which is great!. I'm please to show my grand daughter our progress when she comes to visit this weekend. I'm impressed.
