Thai Basil

by Mark T

I grew the Thai basil last year. I had about 89% germination rate. I let some of the plants go to seed and then tilled them under and to my surprise, they grew back. There was a strong, sweet smell of basil.

Open Pollinated Basil Seeds
by: Juanita

Yes, Mark, as long as the seeds are open-pollinated and you allow the plants to flower and go to seed, they will come back up the next year. Basil smells so good. Glad you had such good results.

Many factors, including geographic location, daytime and nighttime temperatures, the availability of plant nutrients, many unknown climate factors and insects/pest interact to determine a variety's performance.
